Norwood

Why’s that? We enquired about him, he was interested but the offer wasn’t very good AKA McGuire, remember that one??? - Surely if we were that flush we’d have 2 strikers in the building now instead of this dicking about?
Norwood will cost a few quid, but according to your post he laughed at the deal we offered him and he'd be better off staying at Tranmere. You then say that this may not be 100% true. Well, I'd suggest that it is entirely made up! Either by you to shitstir or you've shared it without a seconds thought of how stupid this is.

There is nothing wrong with questioning our transfer activity or raising concerns about our finances, but why make up shite to make a point?

Why am I stiring up rubbish, I was told this by a friend who knows somebody with close ties to the club, it may or may not be true just saying what I heard, not sure why I’m getting so much grieve here, will be happy if it’s not true and prefer that tbh - I think a lot of people on this forum think everything’s rosey at OUFC, I’m hearing otherwise, anyway time will certainly tell won’t it...

We can't talk to and offer terms to players under contract unless the selling club gives us permission, which would require us to match their asking price.

If people are going to make stuff up, please put a bit of thought and effort into it.

I do not know ‘word for word’ how the conversation went.

I’m not saying that there is any substance in this rumour, but despite that being the official line I think it’s quite common for an agent to have already spoken to a club or manager to broadly outline whether their client is interested and what he might demand in wages.

How about keeping an open mind, think it’s common knowledge we haven’t got any money together with the early season shambles on player signings, ever thought of putting 2 and 2 together?????

That skint we have managed to buy a player from Northern Ireland?
That skint that Tiger has now paid fees for a total of 5 players?

It’s a total myth that the club is skint. Long term finances has never been the issue for Tiger. Short term cash flow has been difficult but still manageable.

Also knowing what Norwood is earning at Tranmere and knowing what we pay our players on average then I’d say it’s 100% bullshit that Norwood would earn more at Tranmere than he would here.

Surely Norwood would cost a few £100k?
Based on that it is hugely unlikely that his salary would be anywhere near comparable with what he is paid at Tranmere.
He is the kind if player however that I would expect that we would be lookong at though.

Very true, however you can make the players agent aware of how much you’d be prepared to offer the player should he be interested in the move. This can also help factor in how much the transfer offer is..!

Just heard we were in for the Tranmere forward, he was interested but almost laughed when we made him an offer, better off financially staying there so now not happening

We wouldn’t be offering him less than Tranmere Norwood he want to come to us ;-)
