Ricky Holmes

It depends. If he goes back and we replace him for the remainder of the season then all well and good. But if he goes back and isn’t replaced we might as well keep him here. Even if he doesn’t play he’s the sort of character to have around the place and support the younger players.

I wish him well though and hope he gets himself fit. He’s a talented player on his day and it would be a shame if he doesn’t recover from this.

Agree. A talented and wholehearted player.
Had he been fit for more of his time here we would not be in the bottom 4 I reckon.
Good luck to the guy.

In pre match interview on ifollow KR was asked about Mackie and Holmes, scans. He said one was good news and one was bad, but wanted conversations internally before saying more. I think that means bye bye Holmes.

He has already said that Mackie was good news as he will only be out for just over a week.

Or. It could be good news about Holmes as the bad news is that Mackie is only out for another week..?

If that was the case then he would have just said it, no need to have a private chat with Mackie on that one. Either one of them is out for a long time that is clear, likely Holmes

Little line in one of the Ox Mail articles this morning mentions ‘good news’ on Mackie’s scan. Sounds like farewell Ricky. Which sucks. The rare occasions he was fit he was a joy to watch (and that goal at Sunderland was one of the highlights of a crap season).

Just our luck that we finally nab a player who has been consistently excellent and match-winning against us for various clubs for years...and he plays about 4 games before breaking down to injury.

Taken in isolation, I do think Holmes was a gamble worth taking IF the rest of the squad could cover that gamble. Unfortunately that hasn’t really proven to be the case.

If the news isn’t good for him personally then that’s a real shame for everyone and I wish him all the best. He’s a great talent and also seemed a top professional. He’ll be missed on and off the pitch I think.

Let’s not write his career obituary just yet though.

As there was supposed to be a meeting ...presumably with a conclusion? ....two days ago (thursday) re Ricky Holmes , his injury etc....its disappointing, but unsurprising that theres no information re Holmes, via OUFC Official as yet?

It’s a complete giggle as to how OUFC are handling information pertaining to club issues which would be in the fans interest. Very poor indeed.

He is here on loan. Perhaps we are waiting on his parent club to ok a press release - or even to agree to end the loan.

It amazes me that you continually think you should get some kind of hot line for every single snippet of information out of the club. You constantly belittle the club, insult club officials on the premise that you are a shareholder (i'm guessing a very small amount) which you seem to think gives you some sort of 'god' like status.

Given your posts on here I'm not surprised you don't get much back from the club. Respect and behaviors are a two way thing - if you act like a tool, you can only expect what little you get back from senior officials

Maybe things are being discussed with the club who he is contracted to. Sorry someone else already replied stating this.

Afternoon @Finlandia

When whichever spokesperson for the club announces that 'something' will be happening by a certain time/day/date.... when several days elapse after said announced time, without any information forthcoming, I personally wonder why? Dont you?.... in my opinion it is seriously disrespectful to mete out the proverbial mushroom treatment to loyal supporters. Respect is earnt. If the powers that (currently) be at OUFC choose to disrespect supporters its their choice to so. Youre right respect IS a two way thing. Lack of forthcoming cohesive information under the current regime has been constant from the off. Its unacceptable and also very disrespectful for the club officials to initially ignore, then only when pressed part respond to questions asked by OxVox committee... some of which are still unadressed. THAT is seriously disrespectful of the supporters trust, therefore the supporters of OUFC I think. How about you @Finlandia ? do you think that the OUFCclub officials have been respectful in the way theyve part provided answers to questions asked by ox Vox?

I've never been backward in coming forward, asking questions and for that matter voicing my opinion. Which sometimes I get it right, sometimes Im halfway there, and of course sometimes wrong too ( which I do hold my hand up when that occurs)

Oxford United is, to me, a passion, Im not interested in any other football club. I get to as many first team games (home and away) as work allows, I also get along ,when work allows, to watch OUFC U23s and U18s. Hardly belittling the club is that, nor for that matter is turning up at fans forums, oxvox members meetings and even (when the board decides to hold them) Shareholders AGMs, in person , and have a tendency to ask questions directly to those who should be able to provide an answer. I dont see that as belittling of any club official (Ive seen plenty of officials, owners, board members And coaching staff come n go over the years), is it wrong to ask questions of club officials, or to ask club officials questions ? ... or should concerned individuals just put up and shut up when it comes to OUFC instead?

As for posts on an unofficial supporters forum, the way I understand it, YF is where opinions are exchanged between OUFC fans, sometimes even with a bit of humour. Admittedly some of my posts on here are where my OUFC passion gets the better of me....as also happens with other posters too. I may not share the views of every post on here , however in the main we're all OUFC supporters, and everyoneis entitled to have their own opinions

god like status? me?:D:D:D nah, Im a concerned, lifelong OUFC supporter, concerned about the current position OUFC sit in the league currently, concerned about the recent slump in form, concerned about how the club is financed, concerned that we desperately need firepower in the first team among a plethora of other concerns

re my oufc shares yep, it aint many shares, n its no secret that its 10 shares in OUFC that I hold.

however, KR DID state there was a meeting, re the future of the undoubtably talented, but currently unfit Holmes on loan at OUFC, taking place on Thursday , two days ago now. You may be happy that the club hasnt , as yet, informed what the result of the said meeting was, Im not!.
NO information forthcoming from OUFCs communications/pr dept leads to total speculation, wheras IF information is provided (by the club) , speculation on that particular subject tends to be less wild, wouldnt you say?

anyway....heres hoping the mighty U's get an away win this afternoon
