Kabongo Tshimanga

Is this really the best we can hope for...?! Omg our expectations have sunk.

Was told last night by someone who would know that we have put a bid in for him but there are other clubs interested.
I honestly have no reason to doubt this.

I would have thought that if we'd put a bid in then unless it was derisory then it would be accepted. Oxford City have benefited from loans and also from their ground/training facilities. It would be stupid to throw away that link for the sake of a few quid. Also, I can't imagine that he is high up on the radar of most clubs. We only know of him because he's local but I would bet that there are dozens with similar or better records throughout the country that would be on local scouting reports, and even then the jump in standard would be a massive gamble. At a time when people are questioning the quality of our recruitment this screams of absolute desperation for me and I hope we are looking at players who are far better.

Remember John cambell

I live in Maidstone and went to see the Trophy match today against Oxford City. Our defenders easily coped with Tshimanga, so do not see how he would cope with the step up league 1.

Yes it is a big step up.
I am not sure how old he is? Is he seen as potentially one for the future?

He's only 21 so there is an opportunity to develop for the future, but pretty much his entire career has been spent at National League level. Oxford City are currently 11th in National League South. Slough and Chippenham sit either side of them in the table. Imagine the response on here if Robinson stated that he was after Sloughs centre forward?!

The football partnership was dissolved a few months back. Oxford city are repaying Ensco / Eales the cost of what was invested , but reportedly on good terms over several years.

Didn't Jerome say in yesterday's post-match that City had confirmed that no approaches had been made from Oxford or any other club for Tshimanga

It amazes me that some people think that he could just step up to League 1 when he is currently playing 3 levels below. I reckon it would take him a year to adjust. It would be a punt and not what we need now.
