Tiger Update

Just read through the latest Oxvox update. Big credit to Oxvox. it does sound as if Tiger is a slippery, cagey person to deal with.
He has a politician's way of spinning everything into what amounts to: "It's all going to be fine, we can't say why or how, but we're listening and you just need to trust us...". Condescending pat on the head.
The key bit is the reference to Thohrir, who it turns out is so preoccupied with other interests that he can't even look at anything OUFC until April at the earliest. I wonder what the excuse will be in April. And this is spiced up with a patronising titbit about him mentioning possible Inter Milan U-23s who might fit in with us. Jam tomorrow...jam tomorrow...repeat ad nauseam.

Is that tweet from Lenagan really helpful though? If he knows something he should just come out with it instead of posting vague insinuations.
Since when has Lenagan been interested in communicating with Oxford fans. Whilst his old man destroyed a great position by preparing for sale for months he kept stum and said nothing. Now all of a sudden he has a voice!!

I guess you can read into this anything that you want, but what were you expecting? Full disclosure on the arbitration? Stadium plans for each of the 4 sites? Erick to drop existing commitments to take up a seat in the directors box? OxVox recieved an explanation regarding the additional investment that left the tax issue, and were happy with this. They also were told about the 4 sites and were happy so far. Is this not enough?

No, frankly, it's not enough. And OxVox were not necessarily "happy". Our role via OxVox is to ask the pertinent questions and to press for answers that are as honest as possible, and the OxVox officers are doing a good job of that. It's left to us to judge Tiger's replies on their merits and his replies are smooth and largely empty of anything that commits to action.
It is actions that count in the end and this January is crucial if we are to stay in L1.
And yes, I would expect a director joining the board to be engaged and interested from day one. Thohrir has not even been to a match yet.

So, if Erick came to Tiger and said that he wants to be involved with Oxford, wants to invest etc but has an on going project that will keep him tied up until April should Tiger have told him to jog on and come back in April? Of course not! He may be contributing things behind the scenes that are linked to stadium developments but should we ignore that because he hasn't been to a game?

It seems from internet reports that Thohir is chief of the Indonesian President’s election campaign for early 2019. May explain his absence. Frustrating but understandable maybe

Well at least it’s original, can’t remember the Indonesian election having much affect on Oxford United before, only been going 30 years though so can’t say before that.

Wow! Let'all hope that Jakarta Athletic have a fab U-23 striker who can keep us in L2 next season...

So we've got a billionaire businessman who has been involved with major sporting teams, successfully managed the Asian Games (second only to the Olympics), trusted to run his countries election campaign etc and some are moaning because he hasn't yet attended a game?

How will any of that help us stay in League 1 though. Cos thats the crux of the matter.

Not disputing it, just seems strange to me to hear the Indonesian general election mentioned along with Oxford United, the two tend to stay pretty separate.

Absolutely...one is a long, tedious process of dealing with corrupt officials, local authorities that have little interest in rules and regulations and a passionate public wanting blood at regular intervals.

And the other is the Indonesian general election.
