Fan's View - Bristol Rovers at home

Agreed that Browne looked totally out of it. Earlier in the season there were a few matches when if Browne played well, we played well. Conversely, when he was marked / hacked out of the game, we looked short of ideas. Yesterday, he seemed to take himself out of the game. His likely return to WHU is a major concern.

A good piece Paul, that highlights the mess we’re in. Just to add to the gloom I’ll remind you that we only have one loan left available to us, so if January is indeed going to be the chance to turn around our fortunes, Tiger will have to get his wallet out. I hope we don’t get told he left it on public transport somewhere..

Is that really the case? Smith has gone and we've now got Jordan Graham but if we send any or all of Holmes, Carruthers, Garbutt back then aren't we allowed to replace them?
I hold may hands up and confess I have no idea what the rules are.

I’m not entirely sure either but I was under the impression the rule was eight loans permitted in a season. I’m sure someone in the know will clear it up!

You’re allowed a maximum of eight loans in one season. We are now at seven.

From a cursory check online and a trawl through the official EFL regulations:

"Clubs are allowed to sign up to eight players on loan but can only select a maximum of five loanees in a match squad.
They can only sign a maximum of four players from a specific club, with only two being over the age of 23."

Above text is from a newspaper article. No mention however on whether the "eight" is at one time or over the season.

EFL Rules (https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules--regulations/section-6---players/)

54.4
The following restrictions shall apply to Temporary Loan Transfers:
54.4.1
A maximum of 5 Players registered on a Temporary Loan Transfer can be named in the Players listed on a team sheet for any individual match played under the auspices of The League. This maximum shall reduce to 4 Players where a Club names a Player on the team sheet who is registered on an Emergency Goalkeeper Loan;
54.4.2
No Club may sign more than 4 Players on a Temporary Loan Transfer from another Club (or club) in any Season, of which no more than 2 Players may be over the age of 23. The deadline for determining a Player’s age in this respect shall be as at the 30th June prior to the Season in which the Temporary Loan Transfer is intended to take place. Any Temporary Loan Transfer which subsequently becomes a permanent transfer shall not count against a Club’s quota of such Temporary Loan Transfers for that Season;
54.4.3
Temporary Loan Transfers may include an option to acquire the Player’s registration by way of permanent transfer. Subject to Regulation 54.4.4, any such option can be exercised at any time (including during a Closed Period); and
54.4.4
An option in a Temporary Loan Transfer that was registered during the Extended Period cannot be exercised prior to the opening of the next following Transfer Window.

Again, nothing there about eight players in a season at any one club.

Pretty poor really as they have not made it clear. But as there is specific reference to No Club signing more than 4 Players on a Temporary Loan Transfer from another Club (or club) in any Season, but no reference to "in any season" regarding all transfers I'd argue it was at any one time not in a season.
And what's the need for Club & club??

Thanks for your reports throughout the year, always look forward to them. Regarding the officials, the ref we had at the Southend game mainly officiates in the Championship so was expecting a decent consistent ref yet he was not really any better than the replacement ref we had yesterday who is normally a linesman and only ref's youth games! it wasn't why we lost but it doesn't help. Plymouth we have the chunky fella who was the ref at Walsall away last season again useless and the one who sent Barton off when they played Rovers the other week, so KR wants to watch out:)
Happy New Year and all the best for 2019

"We've got nothing like Goodnight Irene". Thank god for that. A crap song, I can't see the point of it.

The point for me is that is appears to unify their support. It's their song. They (nearly) all sing it together. We - like a lot of clubs - have nothing that's truly ours. I wish we did.

I thought it was that you are allowed to have 8 players on loan but only 5 are allowed in the match day 18. If a loanee/s leaves he/they can be replaced by another one but you are only allowed 10 or 12 throughout the season.

That might be just a false recollection or they have changed the rules though.

Pretty poor that you can’t just find out the exact rule online, but that’s assuming the FL have one of course.

Pretty damning for both the professional game in this country and us as a club that this is an issue, the whole loan system is a mess.
