Current Squad 18/19

Nelson will go to the Championship.
Sunderland are far from up yet.if they don't go up then no way will Nelson go there.
Henry obviouskyvdoesnt get on with KR from what you suggest?

Napa and Kelleher must be getting pretty p***ed off with being at Macclesfield, not to mention Welch-Hayes, who doesn't even have the comfort that it's only temporary :(

A Squad update coming into January.

With the addition of Graham, we have now had 7 of our permitted 8 loans. Both Carruthers and Baptiste look to be coming back in the new year.

I think Carruthers will remain for this reason. I think Holmes and Smith may be returned. It just highlights how light we are in the forward areas...as we saw from yesterdays bench.

I have done my best on the 18s/23s (@mooro @Junior_1), I think I have Lofthouse as a forward, but plays RB? Also could be wrong on some of the youth loans!

As an aside, is Napa injured? Last time he was involved with the Macclesfield squad was 4/12 vs Newcastle U23s getting subbed after an hour

Need to drop Crooks and Lofthouse back to RCM and RB/RWB. Otherwise it’s pretty much right from what I can say. Oh and James is part of the u18’s over the 23’s.

Excellent summary across the whole club , thanks

There was a post on the club site the other day about who was on loan where, including the young ones.
In terms of positions, I'd have put Lofthouse in the winger category, and add Nico Jones as a CB. Sampford can do both CB and RB, and you;ve got McCreadie in twice (I'd say keep MF for him).

Unless I’m going mad, you’ve missed out Nico Jones! CB for the 18’s.. Would also put lopes in midfield over striker as all the games I’ve seen, he’s played along the midfield line.

Thanks for that Shosho. It seems clear to me that at least one CF, another attacking midfielder and a CB is required. And that’s before dealing with the potential problem of replacing Nelson if he leaves.

We certainly have issues across the squad, much of it created by Clotet's disastrous recruitment along with those that KR has bought in not challenging for the first team. When coming in, I think we all anticipated Garbutt and Smith to be starters, with a decent stretch of games from Carruthers and Holmes...not sure if KR has been unlucky, or thats just the financial pond we are now fishing in...January will be revealing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Napa return, and Baptiste coming straight in either in an attacking midfield role, or pushing Brannagan forward. Plenty of decisions to be made!

Great summary, thank you. We definetely need to increase numbers, as we are relying too much on youth, that arent first team ready.
A local rag in Exeter has even mentioned us alongside Pompey in the race for Stockley. You think the message would be out there now that even with multi millionaires on the board, we dont seem to have a pot to p#ss in when it comes to transfers.

How refreshing it would be to be told something regardijg what is happening to our club

Indeed. And why don’t we tell everyone else while we’re at it?

The questions put by Oxvox, which I believe were fair to get a decent response from the club. Though of course we could see as acceptable your seemed preferred option of the 3 wise monkeys....oh wait, hang on we are.

What I meant was, why would we tell people how big our pot is?

Come Fleetwood, for our next league match, we could have a few new faces that could allow a change of formation, with Graham, Sykes, Carruthers, Napa and the "48 hour" striker. It would have been nice to add Baptiste to that, but for yesterays injury. All we can do is hope him a speedy recovery and that its not too serious.

The state of our current squad....

Smith missing? apparently due to an admin cock up of sorts(?) Smith hasnt gone back to Reading, hes with us till the end of the season (unless something happens over the next few weeks)...though nothing 'official' on that as yet

Will add in! That improves the striker situation ?
