Summary With what was Oxford's first game for 3 weeks, there was every chance this game was going to take time to come to life and for us to find our rhythm - but this didn't happen whatsoever. Right from the first whistle, we looked to press Notts County incredibly high and stop them having any sustained periods of possession, with Harris and Goodrham particularly tasked with a lot of the running. This forced them to reluctantly go long and in doing this, turn over the ball. The well-coordinated press was what got us our first goal, with Harris rushing the goalkeeper in to an awful pass straight to him, which he could comfortably stroke into the net. Overview Welcome back to what feels like the start of a new season in itself! Due to personal circumstances and a ridiculously extended international break, this is my first post for nearly a month, so let's get into it! Overview After three away games in a row, and one postponed fixture, Oxford are finally back at home! Following on from the brilliant result last weekend, Aaron Ramsey's side aim to back it up with a first home win for the new manager, against a decent Burton side. For the first time in what feels like ages, the prospect of actually watching us play football on Saturday is incredibly exciting. With the introduction of direct wingers, a fast-paced, dominant play style, and a side full of confidence, it almost feels too positive. Overview Oxford travel to Leicester for a third away game in a row, in an encounter between two recently relegated sides, both hoping to compete at the right end of the League One table. For the U's, it's a chance to bounce back from a first league defeat under Aaron Ramsey, with a 3-1 loss at Huddersfield on Tuesday night leaving us with four points from three games. This will undoubtedly be another tough test against a side packed with quality at this level, who are the bookies' favourites to win the League One title this season. Summary Oxford earned their first three points back in league one, with a hard-fought and impressive victory at Stevenage. With the game panning out largely as expected in the first half, Aaron Ramsey's side really turned it on in the second period, injecting quality into the game; ultimately giving Ramsey his first win in permanent management. In the first half, there was very little quality on display from both sides, with Stevenage making it the type of game that they so often thrived in last season: scrappy, frustrating and very physical.
