Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

Unlike Karl Robinson your humbleness is genuine.
I know what this club means to me and to you and to everyone all over the shire and further afield. we was talking at work the other day about what would I do if the worst happens I really don't know definitely couldn't follow anyone else that buzz wouldn't be there I don't think I'd watch much football. I didn't watch much during covid I hate watching on TV especially us on TV

It’s hard to put into words. It’s just so important and gives us history, community and togetherness. It also gives us Josh Murphy having the Peterborough right back on toast.

It doesn’t bear thinking about, but I’d probably end up watching and giving support to my local village team.

I don’t watch motd any more, I find Linekar and Richards faux banter quite cringeworthy, I admire the skill levels of the players but VAR and the obsession with the Premier League is not good for the game as a whole.

I’ll watch an England game if it on TV but I don’t get anywhere the same amount of emotional involvement as when I watch an Oxford match.

I know it’s a cliche but the Premier League is dull. You can pretty much predict the top seven teams and bottom three before the whistle is blown on the first game of the season. Yes, it’s technically amazing but increasingly leaves me cold.

And you can't celebrate because of VAR.
And players earn stratospheric money on a totally different planet to fans that support them.
And ticket prices go through the roof
And you get more stupid kick off times
And we'd get glory hunters out of nowhere

Agree on all of that. As a young lad I got my hair cut next to Eddie McGoldrick (Mr Toppers - five quid). I imagine Haaland’s hair cuts are more than my mortgage.

Although to be fair his hair is well conditioned.

WY's End of Season awards:

The "Paul Weller" award for best mod: @SteMerritt (although politically I think I'm more aligned with Carpy!)

The "Holly Willoughby" award for best feature: @Paul B 's Fans View

The "Lord Kitchener" award for best poster: @WuTang (just about nipping @RyanioBirdio to the title)

The "Yoga award" for most balanced poster: @Eric Blair (who seems far too nice to be real, got to have some skeletons in his closet)

The "Cleopatra award" for most misunderstood poster: @greatunclekip (who I think is a good bloke, just a pessimist!)

The "Owen Jones" award for most left-wing poster: @QR

The "Winston Churchill" award for most conservative poster: @Essexyellows

The "Snowden award" for most ITK poster: @Colin B

The "Forrest Gump" award for most positive poster: @Scotchegg (Who just pips @Steve Gilbert to the title)

The "Alexander Fleming" award for outstanding contribution: @John Lennon

COYY!
While awards are being handed out (potentially should be its own thread?), and I apologise if this embarrasses them, I’d like to give a special shout out to @Swaby39 & @TheDukeOfBanburyshire who both separately reached out to offer to help me afford to get to Wembley. In the case of @Swaby39, we have spent most of the season bickering over various different opinions yet at the end of the day we all still share the same passion for the same club. Both of you today showed what a special club and group of supporters we have!

It really is a great bunch of people.

There is a decent title race this year but I generally get more interested in the relegation battle and the odd interesting team like Brentford or Bournemouth.

It is but still one of Arsenal, Liverpool or Man City. We were relegation candidates last year and now in the play off final. It would be like Nottingham Forest competing for the top 4.

On a forum you can't always tell the tone of people and there can be disagreements over football (particularly, when we are not playing well) and anything else, but ultimately YF is a force for good.

I wouldn't have sent any emails to councilors, found out about OUFC podcasts or got involved as much with trying to help the atmosphere in the stadium if not for this place.

Spot on and I am the same. I also feel you can have a decent debate on politics, disagree and then still come together on Brannagan being a massive legend.

You’re welcome mate and as I said never be too proud to take me up on it if you change your mind. Opinions don’t dictate who should or shouldn’t be there on the day. We’ve had enough lows at this club over the years that everybody should have their fair crack at being part of the highs.

If I didn’t enjoy the differences in views I wouldn’t continue to come back and post as often as I do. Part of what makes football for me is how you can have so many people with a different take on the same thing and coming from all kinds of circumstances and yet you shove them all in a stadium together and suddenly they all find common ground.

As a (now very rare) poster I agree entirely with this. Been posting on OUFC sites since the horrible days of the Oxford Mail forum. I started as poster 'Yellow Hood' and - despite the rival site 'Yellow Voice' which thankfully soon disappeared - have always enjoyed reading OUFC fora.

Forget occasional political differences on here. We are all Yellows, through and through.

I have warmed to Des Buckingham over the last few games. We were outclassed by Bolton, and have managed to put in a very good run since then, despite being without Goodwin.
I don’t think many of us will see eye to eye on politics and I tend to stick mostly to football these days.
Looking forward to a great game tomorrow. I’ll be missing on this occasion even though I’ve managed four Wembley appearances previously. When I am back to full health I look forward to hopefully seeing us in the championship

I was listening to the Dub, or maybe the Fence End Podcast, and someone said they knew we'd beat Peterborough because they couldn't make Wembley, and so sod's law came to pass..

The whole Yellow army will be there in spirit
