Surely most players who are out of contract outside the premier league will be released. Cutting as many costs as possible will be essential if there is going to be a year without income. Wages afterwards should be a lot lower too.

Those without contracts may very well be up the creek here I think. All well and good saying they're talented and could pick and choose where they go, but if no club is offering anything then there may be a huge pool of out of work professionals the world over very soon.

I wonder if we will try to pay off some players e.g. Jamie Hanson who aren't needed and cost too much? We can fill in with kids if need be.

I think a lot will have to look to come out of football and take up "normal" jobs.

Tbh if Jamie Hanson had any sense, he will hold on if any future contract is going to be severely reduced, unless our payoff is very good.

He’s got over two years left on a deal that puts him as one of our top earners. We couldn’t afford to pay him what he would want to tear that up.

And anyway, the whole bloody lot will be furloughed at this rate, same as any other job. So what would be the advantage?

I thought they already had been furloughed?

Forgot about that - still kind of illustrates the point. Because he’s employed that can happen. And anyway, why would the club pay him a huge lump sum when they have no cash what so ever coming in? They couldn’t afford to pay him off, nor is there a reason to.

This is your fault, Matthew. I’m holding you personally responsible for this.

Had no idea that's where Sami Carruthers had ended up. Must be injuries? He's surely too good for L2.

Was he good? Not sure I ever saw him. it looks like his football career is over, anyway, as with many other players unfortunately.

Seem to recall there was one real important goal in the relegation dog fight where he was involved in the build-up. We’ll always have that goal (whenever it was!)

It goes further back than that. It was me that told the club’s scouts that he was 6ft5. Sorry about that everyone.

Lincoln become the first League One side to reveal their list.
A couple of interesting lines within the text
"Players that have contracts which expire on the 30 June 2020, remain eligible for selection in the month of June and by mutual agreement for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, should we restart."

"Due to the unprecedented situation we find ourselves in, it has made making any positive decisions around out of contract players impossible at this time."

He was very good at one point, a decent league one level player who played a season in the championship. Still only 27 but looks like injuries have got the best of him

A few more have happened since Tuesday.
Updates in the top post.
