Something that bothers me.

The UK Covid variant is now in 50 other countries/territories.
The South African variant is now in 20 countries.
A third variant identified in Japan originated in Brazil.

WTF are people still travelling around the globe when much of it is in lockdown?

How short is your memory??

It's so much more than just Christmas prior to which the majority of scientific advisors were tell him to go to full lockdown immediately. But do I have the time to list it all here for you to blindly dismissive it. No.

What has that got to do with people taking responsibility for their own actions and making common sense decisions to protect their own family and friends, rather than blindly follow an inept government?

Or are you suggesting that people are as stupid and inept as this government that they need to be told what to do and can’t be trusted to make their own decisions. In which case they are equally deserving of your criticism just as much as this government, are they not?

Don’t worry though.... Boris is doing.... err nothing currently for those travelling in from Brazil.

It wasn’t his greatest (which is saying something) demonstration of competence as he was grilled by Yvette Cooper earlier.

Too large a minority will take a mile if you give them an inch. So don't give them an inch. It's not rocket science.

Well it is obviously not "just Boris" they are being let out of and into plenty of other countries..... whoever "they" are.

don`t think we can pin the entire global pandemic on HMG.

True, but they are to blame for not shutting the door immediately to travellers from Brazil.

You are aware these are the same population that voted for brexit right? British public shouldn't be allowed metal knives at dinnertime.

Apologies I was referring directly to the U.K. and international arrivals. If we have our own borders under control then the rest can do as they please.

I note mandatory negative test results for international travellers arriving in the U.K. has been pushed back to Monday.

It looks as though (according to Flight Radar) that flights from Rio - Heathrow have been cancelled since 7th Jan (no idea if this was commercial decision on BAs part or govt) so hopefully we’re one step ahead of countries like Japan who have the new strain.

b****r of a day at the factory.

We have 376 Covid positive patients and now 15 Covid outbreaks across the Trust.
Our main site (Leicester Royal) is almost in a siege state with lots of locked/restricted access doors.
Research work is "Covid only" and the majority of routine work has stopped unless it is Cancer/life threatening.

Next fortnight will make it or break it, I`m a fairly optimistic, glass half full sort of person but there are lots of very, very tired & stressed folk around.

Looks like the plucky non-leaguers have caught a dose

Not that I wish anyone ill-will, but if the self-isolating players start to show symptoms, their FA Cup tie against Spurs could be a non-starter too.....

They read this board don`t they?
"All of the UK's travel corridors will be temporarily closed from Monday to "protect against the risk of as yet unidentified new Covid strains", Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced."

About fecking time.
