Other European European Super League one step closer?

I just can't see it happening.
Regardless, I think some punishment should be dished out for the utter contempt they are showing to fans and all the other clubs.

I don’t mean a petty financial fine, I mean significant points deduction. Hit them where it hurts.
I would love that to be the case but would there be anything in the current rules to allow points deductions?

You think Sky will find some morals? Not a chance. There will be TV deals without a doubt.

Agreed. We had this nearly thirty years ago with the formation of the Pr£mier League. Sky will be one of the first organisations to start bartering for exclusive TV rights.

I hope they all go pop, trying to chase money, and it’s all about greed. I won’t ever watch a game, if it means these clubs benefit from it.

kick them all out, and tell them they are never welcome back in the Premier League, or any other form of English football.

This is going to get messy.

Clubs joining the European Super League (ESL) will be expelled from FIFA, UEFA and their respective countries' FA. The EPL is still a member of the FA, but if the big six left to play in the ESL, they would still want them in the EPL, as the big bucks TV deals will invariably follow the big clubs. Now, if the FA expels them, the EPL would also have to break from the FA, which in turn would lead to the expulsion of the teams currently in the EPL unless they resigned (from the EPL). You now get a situation of having an official and an unofficial league system running in parallel (and not just in the UK).

The crunch will be the TV deals - the ESL will no doubt garner global broadcast revenue for those that go with it and the the "official" leagues will be paupers in comparison with only domestic deals at best and the FA know that that would be suicide - it really would be the end for many an historic club and part-time football for a lot more. Each FA will be forced by sheer economics to accommodate the new league within their structure in exchange for a share of the global revenue and the ESL clubs would grudgingly have to enter their respective countries premier cup competition to keep things sweet.

Will it pan out that way - who knows? Every member of EUFA would need to act together and be prepared to tough it out if they want to go down the expulsion route, but have they got the unity and the finances to do so? That cash carrot will look awfully inviting, especially in the current climate and this is obviously part of the timing of this. It would only need one to cave in or declare that they have to accept for the "good of the game" and the deal is done.

Which is exactly how we got the Premier League in the first place.....

Bayern Munich have said they won’t be joining. Good for them, and I suspect the other German club will follow suit.

Nice to see clubs have morals, rather than chase more money.

Supposedly the same with PSG too - what a boring monotonous contest this would be

Also when it comes to transfer windows, these clubs in the super league can only involve themselves, or develop there own players.

You know what - the only funny thing about this shitheap is how Arsenal & Tottenham believe they would really qualify for a Euro Super League

Anyway dump all six out tomorrow and never let them back in
True.
But it's a big six based on equity, not sporting prowess. And with no relegation/promotion, it'll stay that way.

CAn you think of anything more boring? It would be like us knowing we’ll play Rochdale every year with no prospect of it changing

Always had time for Gary Neville since he retired. Stands up on racism, inequality, class etc.
Anyway, this is good.
I wonder if Gary was right about them bottling the announcement - its an hour late so far...

They should still be docked points.
