Home Match Day Thread 23/01/21 L1 - OUFC v Bristol Rovers

This at the moment puts Rovers in the bottom 4 , and what are Charlton playing at ?

good performance deserved more goals hopefully they will come COYY

Good stuff, will be happier once we put aw second one in after the break

Pressing and getting players high up the pitch makes such a difference. Lots of chances to get balls into the box, more than just Taylor standing around on his own with nobody within 30 yards of him... really good to see. The quiet little boys are turning into handsome young men.

But none as handsome as Matthew.

Playing really well. With a better final ball could be 2 or 3 up. Shame about mcguane but branners has fit in well.

I thought that was a solid first half bar the first 5 mins or so.

Kelly playing excellently and running the game for me. Shodipo looks a real threat out wide.
Gorrin mopping up in midfield to great effect . Long looking confident at full back. Interesting to see how long
Cam Bran lasts.

Henry , though , is completely out of sorts. Woeful first half.

Overall a fairly solid half, after a blood and thunder first 10 minutes we came into it more and some of the passing and moving has, again, been very good. Great shame about McGuane and hope not too serious. Ruffels and Moore have both played well I think. Our goal was the type of goal we usually concede, shocking defending from Rovers. We may even have had a couple more had Henry not been involved, I don't have an axe to grind with him but aside from Burton for one half he is desperately out of form and needs some time on the bench...from 10 things he does, 7 or maybe 8 don't work.

Good half. Comfortably ahead without ever really getting out of first gear. Showed some really lovey controlled passing play with the ball, as good as anything we mustered in our peak last season. Very promising, and good evidence that we’ve stayed sharp over the long break. Most pleasingly, Rovers haven’t had a chance of note whatsoever.

This has been a remarkable performance from Bran. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a player come back from a long-term layoff so sharp. I know it’s not his first game back, but still remarkably soon. Taylor looks well up for it. Shodipo having his best game for us I would say - though the move to the right to put him up against a player on a booking I suspect is helping that.

That MM injury could be huge for us, though. Hopefully it was just a contact injury. But it looked bad if he couldn’t even walk the 10 yards to the dressing room.

Henry is an enigma, there is a good player in there but not on demand. Still, what are the odds that he produces something second half?
