Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding! Said this before it was even voted on by L1/L2 and got plenty of slaps for it. Incredible act of financial and competitive self-harm by the clubs. It’s absolutely unbelievable that so few boards saw what they were actually voting for and that so many fans failed to grasp what it ultimately meant. To then vote to put it in place without all three EFL divisions signing up in unison... I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s a legitimate scandal in terms of the negligence involved.

We are always told by the EFL that ultimately the clubs vote on things and therefore they make their own rules. Vote to overturn it, then. Get it scrapped before it really starts to bite when contracts can no longer be counted as ‘the average’ and the number of players over 21 drops even further.
What can we do though when more than half of clubs in L1 want it in place? Seems like only the top 10 league 1 clubs (size wise) are against it. Unfortunately we are one of them.

i liked Holland but only saw him on left wing. We have both Shodipo and Obita there already unless Holland could play on right. My opinion we only need that and the young defender. No need to disrupt the squad too much.

Think both are right footers but play mainly on the left but can play on the right .
Next season I'd hope Kyran Lofthouse is in our squad as an option on the right as well .
... absolutely prolific , and exciting to watch, when he was playing for our u18s... hope his loan is toughening him up ready for a league 1 (or championship) campaign next season

Hold fire for now. Get 50 points ASAP then use funds to build a strong side to push next season.

That’s what I would do personally, because we know for certain there are at least four teams worse than us this season.

Why would you hold fire when there are 26 league games to play?

I think it's worse than that - they needed two thirds of clubs to sign up to introduce the cap, and they got those 16 votes (just - I believe there were 7 nos and Wigan abstained because they'd just gone into admin).

But presumably, to change it back, they would need a similar two thirds majority?

Tough to imagine that happens when the current arrangements suit a bunch, probably a majority, of the clubs in League One perfectly well

Nobody REALLY believed there were four incoming, did they? Expect a back-up CB and a winger on loan.
Oh, and Scotcher’s excuses for why he got it wrong.

Of course we would. If a manager comes out and says he wants 4 players, fans expect that the manager has thought through by that stage where he wants to strengthen, who he wants to bring in and who is going out, which has happened.

If a manager comes out publicly with such comments, fans will get excited of the prospect of what that means for the season going forward. Coupled with that is the comment of wanting to get things done early, and by the 20th of January, people expect at least some incoming business to be done, and not for it to be all one way, i.e. players leaving.

Whether it happens or not who knows, but fans are now left waiting for the inevitable comments like we've got strength in depth, laying the foundation for no one coming in or the one minute to the end of deadline day premiership starlet on loan no one else wanted.

Hopefully this wont be the case.

Well we need three incoming to replace the losses (Cooper, Clare and Mousinho). Not actually bothering to have the full 22 senior players in a season where we are now going to be playing two games a week for the next three months would be stark staring barmy.

Correct, as barmy as not signing a CB, when the whole world was calling out for one back at the end of the summer.

Pretty reliable!?!? I also saw someone promise we'd be getting 4 in, but I'm not sure I'd describe him as reliable...
I can’t wait for the deafening silence on here if we do, indeed, end up signing 4 players 😅 I only thought we needed 2 or 3 but now, we ABSOLUTELY need 4! Come on KR, you said business would be done early...🙄🤪
