Ex Player Alex Rodriguez Gorrin

I can’t believe I’m seeing this thread come to life, despite Obita looking a shadow of his former self, unable to play 90 minutes and generally looking disinterested for a lot of his time with us. Yes, he was quality a few seasons ago, but was he honestly going to add any real value to the team? I don’t think so.

I do however agree that we need to strengthen our left sided options. I get that Ruffels is ‘one of our own’ but let’s cut the shite, he’s not good enough and if we want to go up then we need to replace him. He looks okay against the bottom half but against a team of any quality, he’s often exposed and is targeted as a weak link. Sam Long has been a revelation this season and I think he can go on to become an even better player than he is right now. He has added an extra dimension to his game and I think even his harshest critic would struggle to deny his improvement. I feel as though we have gotten the best out of Josh, and the only way is down from here.

Anyway, that doesn’t matter. He’ll be given a 3 year deal in the summer. We all know it. Rinse and repeat until he retires and KR has signed his 274th midfielder.

He was but there’s a reason he was sent there
Yes there was, he wasn't ready for their world class team but surely will be, he's better than a lot in in this league and he will be farmed out to a championship side next season to carry on his learning.

I meant that there was a reason he was sent to Lincoln. There’s trust in Appleton and that’s why we were able to consistently get high quality prospects and why Rogers is at Lincoln and not anywhere else.

And you know this for a fact?

But Baldock is in the premiership and Caddem doesn't want to come here so we have Sam and he's fine pretty well
I'm not dissing Long. He's had a great season we just need a stronger team all round if we are going to get promoted. I'm just saying, for all his qualities, he hasn't made us better. Not his fault, just the way it is.

But he has improved immense since he started regularly last season and yes I agree if we were to be promoted we would need quality for most positions in our team and it would be upto the likes of Sak and the others to challenge for their place

I disagree. I think we have looked much stronger in defence and a right back this season. He's also contributed going forward with more goals and assists than Chris Cadden, and he could have had many more. 3 or 4 times at least Long has put it on a plate for Taylor or others to miss. We may not be better as a team, but you can hardly blame your right back for that!

I need to judge him on more than a few good games (which he's certainly had) . By the end of the season I may be a convert.... but not yet. So for now we'll can agree to differ.

A few? 30+ games a left back, centre back and right back this season and I can barely remember him putting a foot wrong. And last season we picked up as many points per game with him in the side as we did with Cadden. Even the year before that, he can into the side around the end of January and gave us a great final third of the season.

I'm not sure what you're expecting in the next 7 games if the last 70 games hasn't convinced you!!

With the exception of a few example (yes (Plymouth was brilliant) he doesn't offer the attacking option better teams have at fullback. Sorry.
