Wigan are non league bound on that showing. How a very decent club can end up on the skids in 5 mnutes, football, bloody hell. We should have won four or five. Fluent and confident by the end.

Their keeper was better than ours though, what a blooper by Eastwood. So lucky not to concede.

Taylor, Henry and Atkinson high class, Ruffs much improved and Kelly looks so much better with Spanish hatchet getting stuck in behind.

Called for Henry to be dropped after Tuesday, wrong to do so.

Clare could play ok at higher level. Can see why we’ve bought him. Lovely ball in for second goal. But who thought he could play right back Karl ? You or the recruitment committee. ?

Obita was a good spot though. Easily good enough for League One.

A drink or two tonight . COYY.

Blimey that sounds like a glass half full or more!

Thought we looked much more solid with our defence playing in their natural positions. Created lots of chances and should have scored more. Wigan were awful though.

We had to win that, they were poor. Much needed 3 points. Gorrin showing us why his type of player is so important. Obita looked decent and helped Ruffels have a better game. Good that Taylor and Henry got the goals.
Message to KR, CLARE IS A WINGER!!
I think KR was hoping Clare would be like Marvin Johnson in that he is better attacking from deep. Until now we have not been strong enough defensively for Clare to play that role. It was a bit unfortunate he didn't have the opportunity today because that might have worked. I totally understand the frustration and agree he is not currently strong enough defensively and he may never be. We are still struggling to find the formation and players that works best. I thought McGuane played well today and the midfield noticeably lost control once he left and we adjusted the formation. But he is young and hasn't played many games and lacks consistency. Cam missing is a major piece in the jigsaw that we still haven't come to terms with. We have tried Forde, Henry, McGuane and Skyes and still we search.
The other major loss are real leaders on the pitch. Dickie, Mackie, Mous and Cam all offered that, no one left unfortunately has stepped up yet. When something goes wrong nobody seams capable of true leadership and we just drift to defeat. In that situation the first goal becomes all defining.
We still have good players but the missing ingredient is not a footballing skill it is leadership.

Paragraphs would help mate.

Has to be said, we look more dangerous from set pieces this season than we have done in years.

Combination of good delivery from Kelly today (and Forde in recent weeks) and a back four that are all big and aggressive in the box.

Some actual imagination and creativity from routines?

I'd like to have said that I enjoyed that but, still too many wayward passes and still no clean sheet. Much better performance on the whole and very good to see Clare given a role out of defence. That must have given him great encouragement. Ruffs was able to play to his abilities with far fewer chances of getting it wrong. James Henry and Matty Taylor scoring will have done the pair a power of good. Just shows what can happen if you get a supply to Tayls and Henry getting a decent connection to put one away at last.
Somebody needs to bang heads together reference silly fouls and the old adage, "play to the whistle" McGuane being a leading candidate for a headache.
Nice to see Atkinson back. Easty must be given a rest. Too slow in distribution, not taking command of his area, again and, apparently, unwilling to play the short ball out to his backs. That said, Moore didn't seem able to find anyone to pass to. That may have been the impression from the single camera angle - how I miss being at a game!

All said and done, we won. 3 points. A plus on the goal difference (still minus overall) Two big games coming this week. 4 points would be good.

I’ve said a few times now that Sean Clare in full flow , running from deep with the ball is an impressive watch
but playing wide , higher up the pitch, his devastating pace could rip full backs to pieces.

Gavin Whyte was very fast but Sean Clare looks to be incredibly quick and his final ball is decent.

Don’t want him being played at right back - that’s clearly not his best position.

Deserved win, I think the 5 sub rule might help us going forward and allow more players to stay fresh and injury free. Mcguane looked much better today and Kelly looked more useful higher up the pitch.

Clare coming on as a winger and instantly creating a goal, going round a few players and looking a threat, what a surprise!!

Important win but that was a dire Wigan side and Eastwood howler could have cost us. Portsmouth will be very difficult and a point would be a great result.

Very good performance, defence looked much more solid, shame they scored a late one, which shot up the blood pressure and nerves, could easily have been 3 or 4 up at halftime. Cant see where the ref got 7mins from, well nearly 8 in the end, yes, their were subs coming on but hardly any stoppages.
